Proskauer Rose lays off 25 administrative employees

The latest law firm to announce administrative layoffs is Proskauer Rose, making the decision to let 25 administrative staffers go.
While many law firms are attributing their layoffs to the current economic crisis, Proskauer Rose said their need for layoffs comes from fewer associates voluntarily leaving the firm.
In a statement released concerning the layoffs, the firm said they “are taking these actions in response to the worldwide economic crisis, as well as an unprecedented reduction in our historical lawyer attrition rate, which requires that we align our staffing with current and projected levels of activity on behalf of our clients.”
Those administrative employees will still be eligible for their 2008 bonuses, severance pay, health care benefits, and outplacement counseling.
