Arizona State University plans to phase out 81 jobs. The cuts are part of the State Legislature’s statewide attempt at downsizing to close in on a $2 billion deficit. ASU officials say that faculty jobs and classes are safe, but positions like deans, department chairs, and administrative support positions will be let go. The Arizona Board of Regents still needs to approve the cuts. ASU hopes to cut its budget by $22.6 million this school year.
