Hotel Front Desk Jobs description
A hotel front desk job is the most important position in the hospitality industry. Duties include welcoming customers and making them aware of the best in hotel services. Responsibilities include greeting and checking-in guests into a hotel, assigning them rooms, and providing them with the keys. A hotel front desk job may involve quoting and/or negotiating room rates with customers with the help of computer or reservation files, and also managing cash and credit card payments. A hotel front desk person answers all questions from guests and helps them with their queries. Keeping accurate track of all financial records, and maintaining and storing all daily records and reservation sheets forms part of the duties.A hotel front desk job requires minimum of a Grade 12 education. Post secondary courses in business or customer service are considered ideal. Hospitality industry experience is considered a plus. Local language skills are necessary for a hotel front desk job. Computer reservations and accounting software knowledge may also be a plus for such positions.
