Virtual Events Coordinator, CVS - New York, NY, Washington, DC, or Remote

Center on Victimization and Safety - New York, NY - Full Time

Please note that our Manhattan office will be relocating to Industry City in Brooklyn, NY this year.

The Vera Institute of Justice, founded in 1961, envisions a society that respects the dignity of every person and safeguards justice for everyone. Vera is committed to securing equal justice, ending mass incarceration, and strengthening families and communities.

We study problems that impede human dignity and justice.

We pilot solutions that are at once transformative and achievable.

We engage diverse communities in informed debate.

We harness the power of evidence to drive effective policy and practice.

We work with others who share our vision to tackle the most pressing injustices of our day—from mass incarceration, racial disparities, and the loss of public trust in law enforcement to the unmet needs of the vulnerable, the marginalized, and those harmed by crime and violence. Vera has offices in New York City, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. Vera is an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity in the workplace—specifically, we value diverse experiences with regard to educational background and justice system contact. We hire employees that reflect our values: respect, independence, collaboration, and commitment.

Center on Victimization and Safety

Through our Center on Victimization and Safety, we are helping communities around the country fashion services that reach, appeal to, and benefit all survivors of crime. Our work includes initiatives focused on communities at elevated risk of harm who are often marginalized by mainstream victim services and systems. In 2017, in collaboration with nine national, survivor-centered organizations, we launched the National Resource for Reaching Victims. Through the Resource Center, we provide information and expert guidance to enhance the capacity of victim services and criminal justice professionals to identify, reach, and serve all victims, especially those from underserved communities, including children and youth, people with disabilities, older adults, people with limited English proficiency, people with incarceration histories, LGBTQ people, boys and men of color, and people from other historically marginalized communities.

The Position

Vera seeks a Coordinator who will support the National Resource Center for Reaching Victim’s virtual events, including webinars and other virtual trainings, learning community convenings, partner meetings, and other events. The Coordinator reports directly to the Deputy Center Director and works collaboratively with an amazing group of people—some staff of Vera and some partners on the National Resource Center.

Resolve technical, scheduling, and content issues in real-time.

Record event and archive recording and all meeting materials.

Send post-event communications to attendees using Adobe Connect and/or Constant Contact.

Who You Are

You love customer service and have a passion for social justice, especially for survivors of crime from underserved communities.

You are at home with technology, and help others when they are not.

You have experience with Adobe Connect, Zoom, and/or other audio video conferencing platforms and email marketing services (such as Constant Contact), or the ability to learn them quickly.

You are organized and detail-oriented.

You are calm under pressure and have a number of strategies for managing stressful times.

You enjoy working on a team and can work effectively with a virtual team, as many of your teammates work from a different location than you.

You take constructive criticism and feedback and see it as a possibility to grow and learn.

In addition, it would be amazing if you are fluent in Spanish.
