Summary of Duties
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (
) at Washington State University is embarking on the accreditation and development of a next generation medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever changing healthcare landscape. The School is now inviting applications for the position of Counseling Services Office Assistant
who will join the Office of Student Affairs team in leading the college into the future.
Under general supervision, the Counseling Services Office Assistant
provides confidential, clerical office support, and reception to the Counseling Center for
students. This position serves as the first point of contact for counseling services. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to front desk support, performing data entry for various sectors of the office, accurately maintaining a variety of record keeping and filing systems, and word processing tasks. Position assists with special projects as requested. Maintains strict confidentiality to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is Washington’s premier community-based medical school. It is named after the university’s late president, Elson S. Floyd. The mission of the School is to: Develop practical solutions to challenging problems in disease prevention, health care access and delivery; Train primary care physicians who will work in Washington and help alleviate a shortage of doctors, especially in rural and under-served areas; and Develop a strong research component, with faculty members who work on innovative projects, sharing what they know with students in classroom and research settings.

High School graduation or equivalent and one year of clerical experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Professional experience preparing correspondence, reports and/or presentations.
Demonstrated experience effectively handling confidential and sensitive information.
Strong customer service skills.
Experience in the healthcare industry, higher education, or medical schools.
Experience assisting in planning and coordinating conferences, events, workshops etc.
