The Unit Secretary is responsible for clerical duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or the Charge Nurse. The position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of care and the transcription of orders and maintenance of supplies. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills are required for the position.
* High School graduate or equivalent.
* Prefer a formal Unit Secretary program either at a vocational school or hospital.
* Prefer one year of experience as a Unit Secretary.
