Medical Receptionist
JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Receptionist is
responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying
insurance, reviewing new patient registration and entering patient information
into the practice’s designated system. This individual is responsible for
taking accurate messages and routing correspondence efficiently. Serves
as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Able to stand, sit, walk, climb,
turn, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift at least 25 lbs., carry, finger,
hold, talk, see with a good field of vision, and hear; Communicate on the
telephone and directly with patients; read paperwork, printouts and computer
screens; Requires manual dexterity sufficient to maintain files, operate a
keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other small desk equipment and
computer.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of business office
procedures. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation to
type patient information. Skill in operating a computer, photocopy/fax
machine and scanner. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in
a professional, pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and
concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
Ability to type 40 words per minute accurately. Ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent is required.
One year of diagnosis coding and medical billing
experience preferred.
Experience with computers and associated clinical
software preferred.
Must be willing to float to other AHMG practices,
within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it
necessary.
Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing
legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry
out job requirements.
Must pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening, and Criminal
History Check
