Adams Center
invites applications for a
Finance Manager
to join their team. This position reports directly to the General Manager of the Adams Center, and is responsible for the daily financial and personnel operations of the Adams Center. The Finance Manager is the primary contact for all financial budgeting decisions and reports regarding the Adams Center. This position oversees all personnel procedures and record maintenance. The Finance Manager is responsible for the management and supervision of one classified staff member, temporary employees, and will share functional supervision of an additional staff member.
The Finance Manager has a great deal of autonomy in the work environment and is expected to fulfill their duties in a manner that is conducive to University of Montana (UM), Montana University System (MUS), and Adams Center policies and procedures. This position functions within the management team of the Adams Center, and must take initiative to meet deadlines, fulfill departmental goals, and strategic plan.
Key duties of this position:
Provide administrative support in a professional university-based office, including exceptional front-line customer service to building tenants (Intercollegiate Athletics and UM Dining Services), visitors, customers and clients
Primary Adams Center fiscal analyst who collaborates with UM Business Services to follow university accounting policies and procedures
Money handling, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation, financial analysis, invoicing, auditing, settlement development and resolving financial disputes
UM payroll procedures, personnel management rules and policies, and the GTO reporting program
Serve as the primary liaison between the Adams Center and Human Resource Services
Understand labor laws, hiring and firing practices and collective bargaining agreements held between the MUS and the university's union partners
The person assigned to this position acts as a point of contact and building liaison for a wide variety of organizations and departments, such as:
Adams Center Ticket Office:
collaboratively work to develop reports, ticketing audits, event invoices and deposit information
Intercollegiate Athletics:
provide financial information regarding building rent, custodial, ticketing and event services
UM Business Services:
monitor UMDW, Griz Mart and Banner reporting functions, reconcile ProCard credit cards and Banner index reports
UM Budget Office:
develop and monitor annual budget reports
Human Resource Services:
serve as department payroll administrator, and as a liaison with HRS employees responsible for the administration of personnel policies and rules
Event promoters and rental clients:
provide settlement and invoice information, collect and distribute ticket monies
Other contacts include the Missoula Public School District, Montana High School Association and local businesses and organizations
Upon completion of training, the incumbent will have developed ability and working knowledge of:
Expert understanding of the Banner, UMDW and Griz Mart accounting systems
Ability to develop, analyze and present a comprehensive department budget that includes all facets of programming and management for the Adams Center
Complete knowledge of event settlement procedures
Ability to assist General Manager in developing and integrating departmental long range capital goals given existing financial budgets and constraints
Knowledge of implementation of a comprehensive personnel program that collaborates with Human Resource Services to effectively manage Adams Center employees
Required Skills
Basic understanding of university accounting procedures
Skill using personal computers and a variety of software packages
Experience working with financial reporting programs
Knowledge of budget development, implementation and oversight
Experience using data and reports to analyze and make decisions and recommendations
Experience producing business related event documentation
Proper knowledge and understanding of cash handling procedures
Understanding of university, state and federal labor laws
Knowledge of university recruitment, hiring and termination practices
Knowledge of university payroll, financial, and budgeting procedures and policies
Ability to adhere to union collective bargaining agreements
Maintain composure while under the stress, pressure and time sensitive demands of the job
Manage difficult situations appropriately and professionally, and exhibit conflict resolution and/or mediation skills
Demonstrate effective researching and problem solving skills
Consistently exercise initiative and good judgement
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness
Maintain thorough records along with confidentiality of information
Ability to collaborate with others and integrate work functions to achieve maximum efficiency
Possess expertise in working with the reporting programs UMDW, Griz Mart and Banner
Minimum Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in a fiscal-related position, OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
Five (5) years of experience working in a university setting in fiscal operations and human resources
Professional experience in a university setting with familiarity of live entertainment and athletics operations
Understanding of the public venue management and live entertainment industries and a working knowledge of building functions and operations within the Adams Center.
