While it is true that there are some clerical jobs that are entry level, those that pay the most money might employ the use of specialized job boards to find the people that are the most qualified. You might find that you need good customer service skills because you may be dealing with customers and vendors over the phone and in person, depending on the type of business. You will need good mathematical skills in some positions and typing skills will be needed in almost all situations. Whether you are typing letters or doing data entry, proper spelling and editing skills are helpful and the quicker you can type without errors, the better. In fact, you might be given a typing test that includes accuracy in some of the positions that are for administrative clerical jobs.



A good sense of organization is necessary because you might be multi-tasking numerous things at one time. On the other hand, there are some clerical jobs that are very mundane and might include data entry for the entire day. It is important that you find out the description of the particular job you are interested in because there are some of them that are boring to certain personality types and others are too demanding. Because they can be varied, an employer will try to choose the person that is best suited in skills, personality and interests for their particular position.

Mastering The Job Interview:

You need to be prepared to know the job description and the tasks that will be required of you before you go to the job interview. As mentioned, you want to be sure that you fit the particular job you are interviewing for or you might be wasting your time. The more skills you have and the more experience you have, the more money you can demand. It depends on the position, the size of the company and your duties as to what pay to expect.

Finding The Highest Paying Jobs:

Many times, the best jobs aren't listed in the classifieds and often, companies will use specialized career boards to find the applicants that are the most qualified. It helps to consider these specialized job search boards because that is where the best jobs are likely to be, if you are looking for higher paying clerical or administrative positions. It might also depend on the type of business the employer is in because some of these jobs will be more specialized. For example, those in the medical field might include medical or insurance billing clerks, medical records clerks and other positions that aren't common to an average office setting. The important thing to consider is that you look a number of places when trying to find these positions, but often a specialized job board website might be the best option, depending on your level and field of clerical or administrative expertise.
